What is Gaggle?

Gaggle was launched in 1999 and was one of the pioneering companies to provide a safe student email solution. Since then Gaggle has grown to offer so much more. We have grown to be a leader in “safe technology” within the K-12 market. Gaggle currently provides safe student communication tools to more than 15,000 schools in 57 countries, while managing over 2 million accounts and storing more than 750 million emails. Our online tools include safe student email, shared calendars, homework drop boxes, message boards, blogs, digital lockers, online document editing and collaborative, safe SMS Texting and filtered YouTube access.

How did my student get a Gaggle account?

Your student’s Gaggle account is provided by their School. Students and adults cannot sign up on their own. All users must be part of an accredited K-12 school.

Does Gaggle offer Parent Accounts?

Gaggle offers Parent Accounts that allow parents to be linked to their students at multiple schools to help monitor their accounts as well as to facilitate home-to-school communication.

What if my student or I forget our user name or password?

For security reasons, no one can view passwords on the Gaggle system. Therefore, if you forget your password you are required to reset your password, by clicking the "Forgot your password" link on the login page. After entering your email address and the verification text instructions on how to reset your password are then sent to your outside email address that you have listed with Gaggle. If you do not have an outside email address listed with Gaggle the notification will go to the School’s Default Administrator.

What kind of Customer Service does Gaggle offer?

Gaggle prides itself on providing outstanding customer service. Customers can reach the Gaggle customer service team via our toll-free number or Live Chat feature between 7:00AM – 6:00PM, Monday-Friday (CST). After normal business hours and on weekends, and holidays, customers are encouraged to reach our service department via our support@gaggle.net address. We guarantee a 8 hour or less response time, even on weekends and holidays, with typical response times are less than 2 hours. In addition to telephone and email support, customers may choose to take advantage of our extensive library of online documentation, which includes “Quick Start Guides,” walkthroughs of several features, and tutorials.

Please keep in mind that we can offer only limited direct support to students and parents. For security reasons we cannot give out passwords or provide other information that would need to be handled by your local teachers or school administrators.

Who can I email with my Parent Account?

Gaggle has several different parent account levels. The most common parent access level is a "Regular Parent." As a Regular Parent you can communicate via email with any students linked to your account as well as the teachers in your students school.

Does your system offer Language Translation features?

Gaggle includes a built-in language translation feature that supports forty-three different languages. This feature is available on the Gaggle write mail screen, read mail screen, message boards, and blogs.

Do you have any examples of a Student Online Safety Pledge?

Gaggle has a sample document that can be downloaded and used as a Student Online Safety Pledge. The file is in Rich Text Format (RTF). It will open with any word processing program such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat or Star Office. For Students:

Can I store my homework files on Gaggle?

Yes, homework files can be uploaded to your Gaggle Digital Locker. Files can be kept private, or access can be granted to other users. The files can be accessed from any computer with an internet connection and web browser.

What if I forget my password?

If you forget your password, your teacher or administrator can reset your password for you. For security purposes no one can view your current password. You may also change your password by clicking on the “Forgot your password” link on our login page. After entering your email address and the verification text, instructions on how to reset your password are sent to your teacher or to your outside email address if you have an outside address registered with Gaggle.

I can’t log in to my account. It says my login is invalid. Can you help me log in?

Are you using a custom domain? If your school email address is something other than “@gaggle.net,” you should try putting in your entire address in the User Name field on our home page. If you have forgotten your password, you will need to ask a teacher to reset it for you. For security reasons, Gaggle cannot give out or reset passwords for students.

Who can read my email?

Your school administrators and teachers will have access to your Gaggle account. Additionally, if your District offers Parent Accounts your parents may also have access to your account. Use good judgment. You are expected to follow your school's Acceptable Use Policy.

Why do messages get blocked?

Gaggle is a safe, controlled environment and your email is filtered for inappropriate content. Messages will get blocked for various reasons depending on the settings that have been instituted by your school. The most common reasons for blocked messages are inappropriate text, inappropriate pictures, or whether the message is being sent/received from an unacceptable domain. Schools can also set up rules on how many messages can be sent a day or restrict how many people can be sent an individual email. Talk to your teacher to find out more information on the rules set up at your school.

What are my email limitations?

The limitations on your email are specified by your school district. For detailed information on your school’s policies please contact your administrator.
